Welcome to Double Shot Standard Poodles. Producing exceptional looking, working, and stable brown and black standard poodles is my goal. I have lived with standards since 1985 when my mom brought her first poodle home to Alaska. Ever since, a standard poodle has always been a part of my life. About a year and half ago my mom who owns Mithrils Standards asked if I would like to take over her brown and black program. Being a huge fan of those colors I jumped on the opportunity to be a part of it.

Looking at the way standards show ring styles have changed since I first met the breed has formed my opinion on how they should look, and work. Like my mother, I feel a dog that is as versitile as the poodle and who has been used for as many jobs as they have should have the body and structure to keep up with the rigors of a working dog. The poodle has been used for jobs ranging from pulling a milk cart, herding, protection, hunting and retrieving, to just being someones ever loving companion. When you look at the demands these jobs can have on an animal you have to look at todays refined poodle and question whether there bones can handle it. The poodles of today have been bred solely for the show ring except for a few breed enthusiasts who have maintained there hunting origins. Thus, my goal of breeding a dog built to work, yet stable enough to be a family companion.

I believe in breeding the poodle to the standard without sacrificing their physical abilities.
